When viewing page 2 of the conversations, Avast alerted me to the following:
Sign of: "JS:Obfuscated-B" has been found in …" and it identifies page two of the conversations here.
Is the code that has been pasted in a conversation a danger to viewers if their AV software does not alert them and prevent action? Or is it just an alert that such code exists and it wouldn’t do anything anyway?
I can’t provide anything more than what is in my Avast log which was:
1/25/2009 Sign of "JS: Obfuscated-B" has been found in "http://badwarebusters.org/conversations?page=2&view=recent" file
I wasn’t viewing a particular post. I was on a page where I was browsing through Questions to select one to view. Since page 2 today is not what page 2 was on January 25, I have not been able to find a page that still triggers it.
However, when I was going through my Avast log, I did find an older entry (from 11/27/2008) that was specific to a particular post and it still causes an alert today.

Sign of "HTML:IFrame-BN [Trj]" has been found in http://badwarebusters.org/main/itemview/129" file
Just a test to see if new responses to an existing conversation cause the conversation to move to the top of the list.
It appears to me that responses don’t change the conversation’s position within the list. As a result we may miss newer content to conversations we have not subscribed to.
On another note … I do so wish that they could incorporate dates and times for each posting.
Hmm, good point – I’ll see if we can figure something out to make it easier. New posts do show in the "All Posts" view, which shows every message (whether starting a new topic or replying to an older one) in reverse chronological order. Maybe we need to make that clearer so it’s easier to tell what’s where?
I’ll ask about date/time stamps too. What makes the current system more difficult (the "x minutes/hours/days ago")?
"All recent posts" may have gotten my attention more so than "All Posts." I assumed that "Browse" at the top actually included "All Posts" so my eyes were "blind" to the "All Posts" link.
It will be hard to determine whether "All Recent Posts" would be better, now that I know the intent of the "All Posts" link. Maybe I’m the only one on the planet that overlooked the difference. :-)
Hmmm … "All posts" serves a purpose, but it is quite confusing when it lists individual posts instead of conversations with the most recently active conversation at the top.
"Promoting" the entire conversation to the top of the list when someone responds is more in line with other forum software that I am familiar with. However, I do recognize that change is always difficult for some of us. :-)
Well … there you go. Since they introduced that section on the right side, I really hadn’t noticed the difference in "Browse" at the top (that I always use) and the "All Posts" section.
Now that I know … I know where to look for the most current posts. The current system with only using "x minutes / hours / days ago" is awkward, in mind. When I was searching for this conversation, I knew the exact date it would have been started, but it was difficult to find without being able to identify the date of the original post.
Granted … if I had known to use the "All Posts" section when it was brought to the top that might not have been an issue.
